FAQs

Shower Doors

We will schedule a 2-hour timeframe in which our installer will arrive to install your custom Crystal View Shower Door.  Based on the number of glass panels to be installed, your shower door installation will take 2-6 hours.

To allow the silicone to set properly, you must wait 48 hours after installation before turning on the water or using your shower.

There are typically 3 levels of clarity: Clear, Crystal Clear, and Low Iron Clear. Clear has a higher level of iron, which will give more of a green tint. We use Crystal Clear as our standard, which looks very clear but with some greenish tint on the edges. Low Iron Glass still has a tint, but it shows more of a “blue” or “dark aqua” in lieu of the greenish tint that low high iron glass provides.  Typically, Low Iron Glass is used in showers with white tile.

After each use a simple swipe of a squeegee will help maintain that brand-new look. From there, do the following:

  • The glass needs to be cleaned using a damp microfiber cloth and a mild detergent or soap to remove soap scum and grime from the glass.
  • If you prefer, a general glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth are also suitable. Daily squeegeeing is recommended with a supplemental cleaning twice a week based on hard water.
  • The need to use harsh cleansers or toxic chemicals is no longer necessary to maintain the pristine appearance of your glass.  A solution of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 5 parts water) will need to be used occasionally to dissolve any deposits.

Glass with protective coating:

  • When cleaning your treated glass be careful not to use any rough, gritty, highly acidic, or abrasive cleaners that may remove the surface of the glass and damage the coating, therefore voiding the warranty.
  • For areas with hard water, due to a higher concentration of mineral deposits such as lime and calcium, a build-up may occur on the protective coating and not be easily removed with a mild detergent. A solution of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 5 parts water) will need to be used occasionally to dissolve any deposits.

This hardware, if given the proper care, will remain beautiful. Neglecting or ignoring the basic rules of maintenance will result in the hardware not living up to its potential long life.

  • The best way to maintain the beautiful finish on the hardware is to wipe it down after every use. After you shower, use a dry towel to thoroughly dry the hardware. If the hardware is kept clean after every use, it will not collect mineral deposits that require the use of a soap solution (noted below).
  • If you are unable to dry the hardware after every use, a weekly cleaning is suggested. The correct method to be used in cleaning the hardware is a mild soap and warm water mixture. Mix a couple of drips of mild liquid soap, such as Ivory or a similar product, into a cup of warm water. Using a soft, non-abrasive cloth, proceed to clean the hardware. After you have cleaned the hardware, rinse thoroughly with clean warm water and dry.
  • WARNING: Never use an abrasive cleanser of any kind on the hardware. Many of the components are coated with a clear lacquer that will be irreparably damaged if subjected to harsh abrasive chemicals or scrubbing devices.

Please keep in mind that seals on your shower enclosure are similar to windshield wipers and need to be replaced from time to time.  Seals are pressure-fitted; therefore, they can easily be removed by pulling the sweep off and sliding the replacement onto the bottom of the door. These replacement seals can be ordered from our office, either for pick up or delivery.  You can contact our Customer Connect Center by calling 866.577.4242, emailing us at CustomerConnect@h2-llc.com, or completing our Service Request Form.

Special protective coatings can be applied to shower glass to create an invisible barrier against stains, mineral deposits, soap scum, and other buildup. This drastically reduces required cleaning and maintenance. Two main options exist:

Diamon-Fusion is a sealant applied at our manufacturer to coat all sides of the glass. This does not alter the texture or appearance of the glass at all. It provides a limited lifetime warranty against buildup, which helps prevent environmental pollutants, hard water, and soap scum from damaging the glass.

Both specialty glass types eliminate most of the scrubbing and chemicals otherwise needed to keep shower doors clean and clear over time. This simplifies homeowner maintenance significantly. Ask your sales representative about a glass protection option for your shower enclosure.

You will likely need to have a contractor install backing or blocking behind the wall first before mounting any grab bars for safety and proper support. Anchoring into just drywall can be risky. Visit the SecureMount™ PDF here to learn more.

Fireplaces

When operating a remote-controlled fireplace, it’s important to remember that you need to change the batteries not only in the remote control itself but also in the receiver box located under or near the fireplace unit. Many people overlook the receiver box and only replace the batteries in the handheld remote, which can lead to communication issues between the two devices. The receiver box acts as the intermediary, receiving the signal from the remote and translating it into commands for the fireplace. Therefore, ensuring both the remote and the receiver box have fresh batteries is crucial for seamless operation and control of your fireplace.

Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions regarding proper startup and shutdown procedures, available gas type settings, adjusting the flame height, and configuring optional features like wall switches or remote controls. Perform regular inspections and maintenance.

Have your chimney professionally cleaned at least once a year to remove creosote buildup. Inspect the damper for damage and seal any cracks. Always burn seasoned wood and remove ashes regularly.

It depends. Consider heat and materials—TVs can be damaged by excess heat exposure. Articulated wall mounts can allow you to safely tilt TVs away. Ensure wires and outlets are properly situated to avoid electrical danger or code issues.

Yes. You can convert your traditional masonry fireplaces to gas that can improve heat efficiency. Consult the professionals at H2 for options available for this application.

A direct vent fireplace is an enclosed, highly efficient system that vents horizontally or vertically to the outside, not requiring a chimney. It draws in external combustion air and expels exhaust gasses separately via a double-walled vent pipe system, where the incoming air absorbs heat from the hot exhaust air, improving efficiency. The sealed glass front allows radiant heat into the room, without compromising indoor air quality or oxygen levels.

Because a direct vent fireplace is a closed system, it allows for flexible furniture placement and can even be inset into walls, with zero clearance sides for combustible materials.

Though it burns special ventless gas logs, it does not require electricity. Direct vent models come in endless styles, from traditional to modern, at varying price points depending on brand and complexity. Their adaptable and effective nature makes them an appealing fireplace option when installing a conventional wood-burning chimney set-up isn’t feasible. For space savings, efficiency and the ambiance of real flame without the mess, a direct vent gas fireplace is worth considering.

Vent-free gas fireplaces and heaters offer an efficient and convenient way to add ambiance and warmth to living spaces without the need for venting or chimneys. Over 17 million US households currently use vent-free appliances. These products utilize natural gas or propane and engineered burners to provide clean-burning, environmentally-friendly heat.

Vent-free units come in various shapes and sizes from heaters to stoves to decorative log sets, providing flexible heating solutions. They feature open flames instead of closed glass fronts for a realistic fireplace aesthetic. Converting a wood-burning fireplace to vent-free gas eliminates hassles like hauling wood and clearing ashes.

As the name suggests, the lack of venting allows nearly 100% of heat produced to directly enter the living space, maximizing efficiency. This makes operating costs just pennies per hour. Installation is also simpler and cheaper compared to vented options since no exterior ductwork is required.

Vent-free products integrate multiple safety features like automatic shut-off mechanisms to prevent issues. When installed properly by certified professionals, these units meet indoor air quality standards. Their versatility, affordability and reliability has earned vent-free appliances widespread residential popularity.
